Artist Bio
My mother was a landscape painter. She belonged to an artist guild
and took me to huge outdoor art shows every weekend to see her
paintings. I used to comb the isles for artwork that would fill me with
awe. I wanted to paint powerful images like some of the paintings I saw
at the shows. I took summer classes, learning to paint landscapes with
acrylics. Later I took to drawing portraits and was commissioned
through out High School and my early twenties. I also had a job
drawing for a professional house painter who specialized in Victorian
mansions(that was before digital cameras). In my twenties, I painted
large figural paintings in acrylic, but I began to move a lot, pursuing a
career in food service, so I switched to watercolors for convenience. In
1991, when overcome with longing to make art a priority in my life I
moved to New England to live with Randi Isaacson and Sue Mone, who
were just opening the Post Road Art Center in Marlborough. I learned
to frame and began dabbling in many different mediums. After a brief
life in Boston, I discovered Provincetown. I moved there in 1992. I
began painting in oils. Living in Provincetown, doing various jobs,
being around the people and of course the sea has inspired me to
paint.
