About the Class
This course is 4 weeks from 1:00pm - 4:00pm on the following Thursday dates:
- October 1
- October 8
- October 15
- October 22
*Please note, we will not be offering credits or rescheduling for classes missed for this course. In case of teacher illness, missed classes will be added to the end of the course.
Learn about texture and color while exploring your creativity and unique art style.
Gel plate printing is a process that uses a soft flexible plate, a brayer, acrylic paint, paper, and different forms of texture to create one of a kind prints to be used alone as art or in mixed media art projects, just to name a few ideas. Your creativity and imagination will be challenged as you venture into this form of print making.
Supplies List:
- 8x10” gel plate (Speedball or Gelli)
- 4” soft rubber brayer (Speedball or Gelli)
- Heavyweight paper, at least 20 pieces to start with.
- Glassine or artist Tissue paper (optional)
- 6 tubes of acrylic paint, not craft paint, in contrasting colors
- Acrylic Metallic paint (optional)
- An apron (optional) It can get messy!
About the Teacher
Art has been a lifelong journey for Veronica — one filled with curiosity, exploration, and a love of trying new things. After more than 30 years as a Registered Nurse, Veronica is now retired and has the opportunity to devote even more time to her creative passions.
With a background that includes Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing and Theology, Veronica brings a unique blend of experience, imagination, and perspective to her artwork and teaching.
Her artistic interests are wonderfully eclectic. Over the years, she has explored watercolor, drawing, collage, artist books, quilting, needlework, acrylic painting, and more. She also creates and teaches spirit dolls, collage, and gel printing. Currently, she is especially inspired by the spontaneous and expressive possibilities of fluid painting.
Veronica’s art education has included classes at the Museum of Fine Arts, local museum schools, and study with private tutors. Her work has been exhibited throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
As a teacher, Veronica loves sharing the joy of experimentation and discovery. Her classes are designed to encourage creativity, play, and personal expression—inviting students to explore the process without worrying about perfection.
