About the Class
This course is 4 weeks from 10:00am - 1:00pm on the following Tuesday dates:
- January 6
- January 13
- January 20
- February 27
Please note, we will not be offering credits or rescheduling for classes missed for this course. In case of teacher illness, missed classes will be added to the end of the course.
Learn about abstract landscape painting from the master, Robert Collins from Montserrat College of Art. In this fun laid-back class, everyone learns at their own pace and from wherever they are starting from. At the beginning of each class, Bob will do one or more demonstrations. You can paint along or just watch. Then Bob will walk around the room and offer individual help.
In this fun and flexible course, Bob will teach you the art of painting abstract landscapes! You will be able to work from photos, and/or your imagination. Learn how to create vibrant abstract works of art with depth, perspective, and intriguing compositions.
Supplies:
- Bring at least 4 colors of acrylic paint
- A few larger brushes
- At least two canvases or canvas boards
- Palette paper
- Anything else you would like to paint with.
About the Teacher

Bob Collins has a BFA and MFA from Boston University. He studied under renowned artists such as James Weeks, David Ratner, Reed Kay, Morton Sacks, Philip Guston, Iso Papo, Harold Tovish, Robert DiRista, David Lund, Sidney Hurwitz, Joseph Ablow, Dorothy Bruce, and Jack Kramer.
He teaches drawing and painting courses at Rhode Island College, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Danforth Museum School, the Brookline Arts Center, and the Merrimac Center for Professional Development. He has also taught at Boston University and the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. In 2002, He was inducted into Who’s Who Among American Teachers for his contributions in Fine art and Industrial Design.
Robert Collins exhibits throughout the New England area. His paintings and drawings have been displayed in the Bernard Toale Gallery, Boston, the G. Watson Gallery, Stonington, Maine, the DeBlois Gallery, Newport, Rhode Island, the Bromfield Gallery, Boston, and the Danforth Museum of Art.
