This class is for students who have always wanted to learn to draw, but where nervous about trying. Drawing is a skill which can be taught through various “learning to see” techniques and the willingness and interest to practice, practice, practice. We will be working mainly in pencil, a little charcoal. I look forward to teaching you how to draw and you will have success!
MATERIALS
Drawing pad at least 60 lb weight and at 11" x 14”.
A drawing board. They are usually 18” x 24'
An array of pencils ranging from HB to 9B and some 2 - 4 H pencils. Try to buy a nice set that contains all the numbers.
A White, acrylic or plastic eraser.
An eraser pencil. Those are the size of a pencil and have a white tube eraser inside a plastic, hollow tube. You click up or down to adjust how much eraser you want to use
A bag of Stumps (also known technically as Tortillons)
A sturdy ruler, preferably metal and no more than 15 “
A plastic, right angle that is about 12” long and 45/45/90 degrees
A black, thin point, ink marker, Fine, Rolling ball
A black Sharpie
A box of “Conte" Crayons. Conte crayons (and pencils, if you want), are a mix of graphite and/or compressed charcoal, wax or clay mixed into the base. Get the earth tone colors. If you can’t find a small box of the Conte brand, get a stick of black compressed charcoal.
