About the Class

Learn how to develop your strategic plan for getting your work into the world through exhibitions and other opportunities. This workshop is designed for the artist who has an emerging or active artistic practice, but is just starting to think about how to show their work. Participants will learn how to discover opportunities to exhibit their art, including: an overview of co-ops and galleries; how to evaluate open calls for work; how to write compelling artist statements for potential exhibitions; and how to promote their work.

About the Teacher

Sharon Stanczak is a Massachusetts-based artist and curator who earned her MFA in Visual Arts from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland. She finds inspiration in the intertwining of the organic and inorganic, and she works in a variety of media, including oil, ink and pastel. Her artwork embraces and reflects the diversity and possibilities of existence, and she is one of the co-founders of the Future Yearnings Initiative, an on-going curatorial project.

She has exhibited her work broadly in Massachusetts and beyond. Recent and past exhibitions include juried group shows with Woman Made Gallery, Kingston Gallery, ViolenceTransformed, the Piano Craft Gallery, Mosesian Center for the Arts, Emerson College, Lyme Art Association, CT, Kingston Gallery, Bromfield Gallery, and the Cambridge Center for the Arts.
