About the Class
This course is 6weeks from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on the following Thursday dates:
- November 6th
- November 13th
- November 20th
- No Class November 27th - Thanksgiving
- December 4th
- December 11th
- December 18th
**Please note, we will not be offering credits or rescheduling for classes missed for this course. In case of teacher illness, missed classes will be added to the end of the course. **
"This class is open to students of all levels. One of the reasons that my students like my classes is that I am generous. I don't keep my techniques secret. I experiment with you, try out techniques, and share everything I know as well as the stuff I don't. You see my goal is not to teach you to paint like me but to teach you to paint like you. I believe in you and know that once you learn a new way of seeing and experimenting that you will discover your own visual language. Watercolor is such a beautiful medium with so many different styles that can be embraced. Everyone says it is a hard medium for any number of reasons. I say embrace the mistakes and explore the mystery by jumping in. I will show you how you can conquer your fears and find your true voice." - Sandra
Supplies:
Bring all the supplies you have and Sandra will go over what you have during the first class.
- One #10 or #12 round watercolor brush
- One flat 1" watercolor brush
- Set of paints.
Sandra prefers using tubes. These are the basic colors she uses all the time and would recommend getting:
- Cadmium Yellow
- Cadmium Red
- Ultramarine Blue
- Alizarin Crimson
- Payne's Gray
- Lemon Yellow
- Phthalo Blue
Everyone should bring a block of watercolor paper.
About the Teacher
Sandra loves curves, saturated color and patterns. Watercolor is her favorite medium but she also draws traditionally in pencil or pastel and digitally in Illustrator or Photoshop.She gained her training as an artist at Maine College of Art (Portland School of Art) where she earned a BFA in graphic design. Sandra has taken classes at Mass College of Art, The Decordova Museum School and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. Currently she is on staff at ArtSpan in Lexington, and The Danforth Museum in Framingham. Sandra is also a board member of the Marlborough Cultural Council and a parent volunteer for the MHS Drama Club and Marlborough Music Association.
